The Best Adventure Festivals in the UK

Outdoor festivals.. Ahhh, fresh air, great atmosphere, inspirational talks, gentle music, outdoor activities to boot, plus loads of opportunities to meet like-minded adventerous individuals just like you and me.

It’s no wonder festivals with an outdoor theme are booming. I’m not just talking festivals which are outdoors, as that would be all of them, but festivals which are specifically themed around getting outside.

These could be outdoor lifestyle, extreme sports, bushcraft, the list goes on.

In this article we are going to take a look at the best outdoor festivals in the United Kingdom.

Kendal Mountain Festival

Just brilliant weekend, really good films great talks happy friendly people, and you have the best natural riding around on your doorstep, it's a no brainer if your a mountain biker.... I would recommend it.

Kendal mountain festival is the veteran of the list. It all began in 1980, and is a humble, yet wildly popular annual festivals in the town of Kendal, Cumbria. Make no mistakes, this is a pure outdoor festival through and through, attracting filmmakers, tv producers, adventurers, brands, and atlhetes from around the world. Enjoy book launches, talks, brand demonstrations along with good food, sporting events and competitions.

Accommodation can be booked in and around Kendal and in the wider Lake District area.

Top of the Gorge Festival

The festival was simply fantastic. It wasn't huge, but for a family of 4 it was just right right size. Loads to do, see and keep a 4 year old busy, meanwhile keeping his 30 year old dad busy all at the same time.

The National Trust top of the Gorge Festival is in its 3rd year in 2020. This family focused festival is small, yet packed full of fun workshops, inspirational speeches, and plentiful activities from running, mountain biking, climbing, bushcraft skills to orienteering. 

Expect a relaxing, yet action packed weekend of good music, loads of fun and time to unwind with this excellent family friendly festival from the National Trust. 

Into the Wild Festival

The festival was simply fantastic. It wasn't huge, but for a family of 4 it was just right right size. Loads to do, see and keep a 4 year old busy, meanwhile keeping his 30 year old dad busy all at the same time.

The Into the Wild festival is set in the Sussex Countryside and features 200 workshops. These include den making, fire crafts, yoga, dance, foraging, archery, martial arts, forest bathing, open mic, the list goes on. For families, there is an award winning kids area in addition to storytelling. Not to forget the vast array of food on offer.

Wilderness Gathering

Had another great few days at the Wilderness Gathering 2017, lots of great people in a fabulous environment. Many thanks to all the team for their hard work and organisation.

The Wilderness Gathering before is a must visit festival for those who enjoy nature, slow experience and the outdoors. The Wilderness Gathering offers as much for families as it does for singles and couples. Enjoy the bushcraft shows and events, survival and primitive living.

The basis for the festival is knowledge sharing, and learning outdoor living skills in a relaxed and open minded environment.

If your interested in a slower way of living, and want to develop your skills as an outdoorsman or woman then this festival is for you.

The Bushcraft Show

Good demos, lots of kit to see and buy, variety of new skills to try, great ideas for scout leaders, people willing to share their knowledge.
